The Sacred Mirrors
The Sacred Mirrors, once on view at CoSM NYC 2004-2008, are NOT CURRENTLY ON VIEW at CoSM. The exquisite well-loved series will be displayed in the Visionary Art Sanctuary at CoSM, Entheon, now under construction. Please help get the paintings back on view by making a contribution to build Entheon.
Inspired and named by Allyson Grey, the Sacred Mirrors series were painted by Alex Grey from 1979 to 1989. This unique work of contemporary sacred art transcribes a psychedelic mystical experience shared by the two artists. An installation of framed images, consisting of nineteen paintings and two etched mirrors, the 21 Sacred Mirrors examine the anatomy of body, mind and spirit in rich detail, presenting a life-sized figure facing the viewer who is invited to reflect on their own divinity.
