THOTH
Chapel of Sacred Mirrors
Sat. Dec. 3rd
8pm - 10 pm
$15.00

Chapel of Sacred Mirrors proudly presents Thoth!

The Chapel of Sacred Mirrors will host Thoth, the enchanting one-man opera and the subject of an Academy Award winning documentary.  Eclectic and eccentric, Thoth's musical "prayformances" draw from many traditions and myths.   A classically trained vocalist and violinist, a composer, a dancer, Thoth has performed around the globe.

Clad in ornate gold lojncloth, chains, boots and headdress, Thoth intends to heal humanity through his "prayformances."  Thoth sings in a language from the mythical land of his own creation, Festad.  His energetic performances string together the energy of Jimi Hendricks and Beethoven.

For more than five years, Thoth has been "prayforming" his solopera, "The Herma: The Life and Land of Nular-in," daily at the Trefoil Arch, and at the Bethesda Terrace Arcade in New York's Central Park.  In addition, he has prayformed his soloperas in Sweden, Canada, Portugal, Spain, and in the Netherlands.

Thoth continues his study of Theosophy, eating raw food and writing Encyclopedia of the Festad.

A Celtic Winter Festival

A CELTIC WINTER FESTIVAL
Saturday, December 10th
7:30pm on into the night. $20

Chapel of Sacred Mirrors hosts a Celtic Winter Festival!

Join CoSM for a Celtic Winter Extravaganza! This special night will showcase an abundance of talent, ranging from live music and Irish Step Dancing to arts and crafts workshops and Irish Storytelling. CoSM will also be screening the film "The Secret of Roan Inish" and serving delicious desserts and Irish tea.

Kicking off the festivities will be a lively musical performance by the CELESTE RAY ENSEMBLE infusing jazz and world music, updating a traditional Irish sound. The Celeste Ray Ensemble features Celeste Ray, a vocalist/psaltery player who has performed with musical talents Chick Corea, Weather Report, and folk legend Pete Seeger. Also featured are musical talents James Gilchrist on guitar, Eric Mauriello on bass and keyboards, Josh Sinton on flutes and pennywhistle, and Andrew Potenza, percussionist.

As part of the musical program Irish Step dancer Amanda Vorheis will perform, blending Irish tradition with contemporary movement.

Entertaining next with her Grammy award nominated poetry and Irish storytelling is Imelda O'Reilly, who has performed with fellow Irish cultural icons Sinead O'Conner and Van Morisson.

Following the poetry will be the haunting and beautiful songs of the folk/rock/world band BLUE KNIGHT, performed by James Gilchrist on acoustic guitar/vocals, Eric Mauriello on bass, Andrew Potenza on percussion, Celeste Ray on psaltery, and Debbi Adelman and Julie Sherwood, vocalists.

Opportunities to participate in the evening's festivities include workshops in creating Celtic Paper Christmas ornaments led by Sophia Skeans and Anne Hourigan, and the Sacred Geometry of Celtic Knots, led by John Lloyd, Zachariah Gregory, and Sharon Fulcher.

The film, to be screened at 11pm, is "The Secret of Roan Inish," a magical fable from writer-director John Sayles; truly an Irish legend for children, teenagers, and adults.

Tea and desserts will be served!
