2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl
A reception to celebrate the publication of 2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl (Tarcher/Penguin) by Daniel Pinchbeck. 2012 unifies the inquiry into cosmological phenomena ˜ including crop circles, quantum physics, and the worldwide resurgence of shamanism ˜ in support of the Mayan prophecy that the year 2012 will bring an unprecedented global shift in human consciousness. Appearing forty years after the pivotal heyday of the 1960s, 2012 also argues for the legitimacy of the 1960s-era spiritual and intellectual legacy, embracing the works of writers such as Aldous Huxley, Allen Ginsberg, and Carlos Castaneda.

Brief remarks will be made by Alex Grey, Tarcher editor Mitch Horowitz,
and Daniel Pinchbeck.

Needless to say, any opening needs to be followed by practice, but as for this initial opening, this process is as effective as they come. Please take advantage of it, you won't be disappointed."

Visionary Art Workshop
with Alex and Allyson Grey

Friday, May 26th from 1-5PM
Ram Room at the Sun Valley Inn
Sun Valley, Idaho
$50
For tickets go to:

Visionary artists Alex and Allyson Grey teach painting and drawing from the wellspring of the divine imagination.  This workshop is an opportunity for artists at any level of experience to draw and paint from the sacred ground and the mystic eye.  We learn, through slides and talks, to empower the process of bringing the heart's iconography to outer form.  Using guided imagery, meditation, and shamanic ascent, we enter the doors of the imagination to the theater of revelation. Utilizing basic materials, primarily using graphite and colored pencils, pastels, and watercolors, we commit these mental pictures to paper.  We also discuss the aesthetic dimension of our mystical experiences.

Participants range from beginners to professionals, and Alex and Allyson spend time with each person discussing their artwork and creative goals.  Alex Grey is a world-renowned artist, poet, and author.  His books, The Mission of Art, Sacred Mirrors, and Transfigurations, trace the development of his work and the mystical experiences that have shaped his and Allyson's life together.  Allyson Grey, co-founder of the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, has shown her artwork widely and, along with Alex, teaches nationwide.

Suggested supplies to bring:
Good drawing or watercolor paper -- approx. 11" x 14" or your preference
Colored pencils, drawing pencils, erasers, sharpener
Watercolors with brushes
Materials you like to use: scissors, tape, glue, ruler or compass, etc.
