Alchemy of the Word
with
Brett Bevell
Sunday, June 4th 1 pm - 5 pm
"Poetry is the language of the divine" says Brett Bevell, "and in this workshop we play, laugh, cry, and chant our way to heaven."
Using various techniques, including Kabbalastic healing sounds, ancient Egyptian mantras, singing Rune charms and using experimental theater exercises to open our authentic expressive capability, we explore poetry as an act of psycho-spiritual liberation, a means of transformation that unleashes the power of our true voice.
In preparation for our writing, we perform individual and group exercises to help us speak frankly and honestly about our shadow selves, and experience the joy and ecstasy that often lies hidden in our daily expression. This workshop is for writers of all levels of experience: there is no critique other than ones own inner knowledge of what it means and feels like to be totally authentic.
Brett Bevell is the author of the illustrated poetry book America Needs A Buddhist President, a poem which initially aired nationwide on NPR's All Things Considered on March 29, 2000, and which can be heard online on npr.org. While receiving critical acclaim for his writing from authors such as Anne Waldmen, Rha Goddess, and John Perkins, Brett's work has been featured or mentioned in numerous magazines, including Earth First Journal, Publishers Weekly, and the Buddhist magazine Tricycle. |

10 Acupressure Points Everyone Should Know
A Workshop at CoSM
542 W. 27th St., New York 10001
Sunday, June 25th 1pm - 4pm
Aches and pains treated with pills or other medicine may bring temporary relief but rarely produce lasting results. Acupressure is an excellent substitute for this “band-aid” approach to healing.
In this workshop you’ll learn to locate basic energetic pathways, find acupressure points, and access their energy. With this knowledge, various conditions are treatable through self-massage or administered by family or friends. Details of acupressure, new to many, will be reviewed in an introduction to Oriental Medicine, the body and how to touch one another in a healing way. Bring your aches and pains, and let your partner make you feel better!
Bring the whole family or a friend, and a yoga mat if you have one, to this class of practical healing wisdom.
Jack Pessin, a licensed Acupuncturist & Massage Therapist, treats residents of New York and Connecticut in their homes and offices.
|
|
Jack has a Masters degree from the New York College for Holistic Health Education and Research.
New York Magazine identified Jack as "one of the best massage therapists in New York City."
He has appeared on ABC's television program "The View". www.GatewayAcupuncture.com |

SHPONGLE Dj Set
By: RAJA RAM Tip world uk |
|
Shpongle is considered to be one of the most important and influential psychedelic down tempo music projects of recent years. The members are Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one half of The Infinity Project and founder of the indo-prog/raga rock group of the 60's/70's Quintessence). Their sound is a successful mix of mainly eastern ethnic samples and western contemporary psychedelic synth music.
Shpongle's first tune, Rumours of Vapours, was released on TIP Records' Infinite Excursions compilation in 1996. Their debut album, Are You Shpongled?, was released 1998 on Twisted Records. The high sound quality, successful mix of samples, instruments and synths along with the story and progress of the music through the album made it one of the most cutting edge releases. Are You Shpongled? And Twisted Records' first down tempo compilation, Eclipse, made a huge impact on the psychedelic trance scene. These two releases were very important and influential to the small and undefined psychedelic down tempo genre.
