In
2004, the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors opened as an urban sanctuary in New
York City, transforming an empty warehouse into a visionary environment
for non-profit creative endeavors and eventually hosting thousands of
visitors. CoSM’s Manhattan lease ends in 2008. In keeping
with its original mission of creating a permanent sanctuary for a
diverse and growing creative community, CoSM co-founders Alex and
Allyson Grey have found an astounding Hudson Valley property, 65 miles
north of New York City, to house the Chapel. Your participation
in this fundraising event will help create a permanent, lasting,
creative sanctuary for future generations.
Please send your donation, made payable to Chapel of Sacred Mirrors, to
Spencer Sherman at the address above, by June 1st. You may also
RSVP via email at spencer@abacuswealth.com
by June 2nd at the latest. If you would like to support the
Chapel, but are unable to attend this event, your donation is greatly
appreciated.
Please contact Spencer or Janine at 707.824.4801 or Spencer@AbacusWealth.com
with questions regarding the event. If you have additional
questions about gifting and support of the Chapel, please email Sara
Haimowitz at sara@cosm.org.

Alex Grey at the Open Center
Entheogeneration: Sacred Potions,
Art, Altered States, and the Divine |
|

|
|
A human urge to achieve altered states of consciousness through the
ingestion of sacramental, mind-expanding substances is as old as
history itself, from the cradles of Eastern and Western civilizations
to contemporary trance and neo-shamanic subcultures. Through plant
medicines and chemical epiphanies the drive to risk hell to experience
heaven has been unfolding into a modern day spiritual movement.
In
this presentation, one of the most beloved, inspiring and accomplished
American visionary artists of our era, Alex Grey, will trace these
generations of God seekers, offering us extraordinary visual
illustrations of their inner journeys, including glimpses of his own
art and of other exponents of this emerging visionary culture.
