Dear Friends,

I am happy to announce that we raised over $100,000 in pledges and gifts the evening of our Gala! As this was the goal for the evening, we are very pleased! Along with the promised gift of 100,000$ (no strings attached gift) from myself and my husband, David, and another 72,000$ from our wonderful Board member,Marie-Elizabeth Mali, this brings us close to 300,000$ to begin our OPPORTUNITY FUND!!!!

Of course, we still have a long way to go---
2.5$ million is our goal, and one million dollars is our current goal so that we may have a cash reserve to deposit on the property that we chose to buy. We are still waiting to hear back on a property one hour North of New York City by train, and we will let you know whether our bid of 1.8$ million is accepted. We have secured the capital to get this property through sales of paintings, collateral, and a bank loan- and additional no interest loans from friends. Of course, after getting our needed property then comes our job of raising the funds to build the Chapel! After renovating any property we acquire, we will begin the third and last phase of capital campaign to build our chapel!

UPDATE ON THE LAND AND THE FUTURE OF CoSM

Last summer CoSM was seeking funds to purchase land for the future Chapel. What happened to that land?

CoSM raised $1.8M in four months to satisfy the asking price of the seller. The seller is still considering whether to continue seeking a higher bid for the property.

If the seller chooses another buyer and CoSM is unable to purchase this property what will happen to the Chapel?

CoSM has a lease at 542 W. 27th St. through December 2008. The building is for sale and it is unknown whether a new lease will be offered and if so whether it wil be affordable. We are seeking a permanent home for the Chapel.

Why does CoSM have to move? Can't CoSM remain in New York City?

The mission of CoSM is to build a Chapel as an enduring symbol of universal spirit, love and transformation. The Chapel in Chelsea is the first phase toward achieving that mission. To build sacred architecture there must be land.

Sacred architecture for CoSM could be built in the city, in the country, and at a number of sites. Realizing any or all of these possibilities takes the powerful support, commitment and manifestation of a community.
